Burns Night

A night in remembrance of Robert Burns (Born Jan 25th, 1759 – Jul 21st, 1796) has always been accompanied by a piper.  Robert Burns or more usually referred to at these occasions as Rabbie Burns is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide on 25th January with a Burns Supper.

A piper usually plays traditional Scottish tunes such as Auld Lang Syne until the high table is ready to be seated.  After the general address and welcome it is tradition for the haggis to be piped in and for guests to clap along until the haggis reaches the table.
